Tips for Flower Care

The vase used should be thoroughly cleaned before use, as an unclean vase can harbor bacteria and affect the growth of fresh flowers. Before placing the flowers in the vase, trim the stems at a 45-degree angle or in a cross shape. This helps them absorb water better. If there are leaves on the flower stems, try to remove them completely, as leaves submerged in water can rot and promote bacterial growth. To prevent bacterial growth in the water, you can add flower nutrition powder. If you don't have any, you can add a drop of bleach.

For all customers who order flower bouquets, we provide a packet of Dutch flower nutrition powder. Each packet weighs 5g and is suitable for all types of flowers (except lilies). The ratio is 1g of nutrition powder to 100ml of water. So, for one packet of 5g, you can add it to 500ml of water. Using the nutrition powder reduces bacterial infection, enhances the vibrant colors of the flowers, helps the bouquet bloom, and keeps the water clean.

It's important to change the water regularly. If you have time, you can change the water daily, or every two days. Tap water is sufficient, but avoid using warm water. After using the nutrition powder, you can change the water every 2-3 days. Before changing the water, remember to trim the stems and clean the vase following the procedure. Also, clean the vase thoroughly, trim the stems, and remove any withered parts to reduce bacterial growth. Avoid spraying water directly onto the bouquet, as high humidity can cause decay. If the petals rot, it can easily spread to other petals. However, hydrangeas require a large amount of water, so they can be directly sprayed.

Fruits release ethylene gas when they ripen, which can cause the bouquet to wither. Therefore, avoid placing the bouquet near fruits. Choose a well-ventilated and cool place for storage, as higher temperatures accelerate the growth of fresh flowers. Avoid direct sunlight or spotlights, as well as placing the bouquet near air vents, as this can accelerate water loss. Some flowers may shed their pollen when fully bloomed (especially lilies), and it can be difficult to clean if it gets on clothes or furniture. Therefore, you can periodically remove the stamen using tweezers.
